New Infinite Undiscovery pics want to undiscover your infinities

Tri-Ace has updated theofficial Web sitefor its Xbox 360 exclusive RPG, Infinite Undiscovery, withnew imagesof the characters Eduardo, Luka and Roka. The latter two characters look like Palam and Porom had sex with Zorn and Thorn and they were the results. That is all I have to say about those two. The game’s looking and sounding rather nice, and I am expecting a solid effort from Tri-Ace. Whether it can approach the brilliance ofLost Odysseyremains to be seen, but I’m always up for a quality JRPG to sink my time into....

[New releases is your weekly look at all the hot new titles coming out this week.] The big title out this week isBattlefield: Bad Company 2(X360, PS3, PC). Nintendo DLC: BIT.TRIP.CORE, more Art Style, chariot racing

So it looks likeBIT.TRIP.CORE(1-2 players, 600 Wii Points)from the fine folks at Gaijin Games marks the 100th game to hit WiiWare. Really, you couldn’t pick a better game to commemorate the event, asBIT.TRIP.CORE.represents exactly the type of games we wanted to see on WiiWare — original, risk-taking titles you don’t often see on consoles. On the other end of the WiiWare spectrum today, you’ve gotBUST-A-MOVE Plus!(1-2 players, 600 Wii Points), which may be the hundredth version of the game to hit any platform....

Not surprisingly, these Guitar Hero: On Tour screens look like Guitar Hero

Today, Activision has released a batch of new screens forGuitar Hero: On Tour, their Nintendo DS version of their money-printing music game. There’s been plenty of hullabaloo surrounding the fret board peripheral that the game ships with, but it’s good to see from these screens that the game looks like its bigger console brothers. You can also see that some of the more “videogame-y” aspects ofGuitar Hero IIIare back. Boss battles seem to be present, and it looks like the developers are taking advantage of more than just the Nintendo DS touch screen....

NSMB Wii is 8th biggest seller in entire Mario series

For reasons that I can only assume are totally awesome, NeoGAF user “Michan” has been keeping an eye on the sales numbers coming out of Japan for theSuper Marioseries and ranking them in the above graphs. It seems to be something that’s gone on in different incarnations over the last few years. The top graph shows sales of the various games one week afterNew Super Mario Bros. Wiiwas released. Below are the most recent numbers, four weeks in....

Obsidian: Story is important, but not that important

The subject of story in videogames is becoming more and more of an interest to me, so when I had a chance to speak with Chris Avellone, lead creative designer of Obsidian’s upcoming spy RPGAlpha Protocol, I had to ask what a studio famous for roleplaying games thought about the importance of narrative. “It’s important. I don’t think it’s as important as systems design (which is moment-to-moment entertainment), or level design (which gives the systems a context), but the story is an important piece that gives systems and level a reason to exist, and helps to compel the player to move forward,” explains Avellone....

PAX Prime 2010 pulled in 67,000 attendees

If you were at PAX Prime this year, you don’t need me to tell you how successful the show was. Merely walking around the packed show floor — or anywhere nearby downtown Seattle — told you everything. You literally couldn’t walk the streets at any time of the day (or night) without spotting a lanyard. Such a cool feeling, huh? I suppose if you want to make it all official-like, you’re going to want hard data....

Preview: Dead Space Extraction

When Electronic Arts said it was going to bringDeadSpaceto the Wii, a lot of people thought that they were joking. As it turns out, they weren’t, but the confirmation only brought about the usual two responses. The first and most prevalent one was the typical, “OMG, I can’t believe they’re porting it to the Wii. It’s totally going to [negative term of choice],” since it’s commonly known that anything that has to do with the Wii is absolute garbage....

Project Sylpheed demo crashes onto Xbox Live

WhileProject Sylpheedhas been out in Japan for quite some time, the US version is just now gearing up for release on July 10. If you’re unfamiliar with this game, think of it as an off-rails space shooter. It sort of reminds me of theRouge Squadronseries with a little bit ofRobotechthrown in for good measure. A word of caution: do not jump into the game without at least attempting to complete the tutorials....

PSN Swords and Soldiers getting Move support

Ronimo Games has announced that the PlayStation Network version of its awesome side-scrolling real-time strategy game,Swords & Soldiers, will be getting a Move support patch in the coming weeks. Originally designed for the Wii and its motion controller, the game works surprisingly well with the PS3’s DualShock. Still, I think the motion controls have the advantage, so I’m looking forward to this update. Additionally, the game wil be release for the first time for PC and Mac via Steam in two weeks....

Everybody’s favorite meat ambassador, Reggie Fils-Aime, has spoken about the future of the Nintendo Wii in an interview withReuters, quelling rumors that Nintendo is already whipping up a console to take the Wii’s place on the throne: We believe the role of a new console, a new system, is to bring great new entertainment ideas to life.
