Guerrilla: Motion control will be in most FPS games

Killzone 3is among the first 360/PS3 shooters to embrace motion control, with full PlayStation Move support. Developer Guerrilla believes this is but one step toward a waggle-scented future, with motion control destined to become the norm. “You lose some of the accuracy when rotating, that becomes more difficult,” said principal programmer Tommy de Roos. “But you make up for that by being able to point anywhere on the screen and send your bullets flying there....

Guilty pleasures/unsung classics of my SNES childhood

It’s the 20th anniversary of the release of the Super Nintendo! To celebrate, Destructoid is offering a week’s worth of SNES-related content. Join us for “Seven days of the Super Nintendo!” The Super Nintendo Entertainment System is without hesitation THE system of my childhood. In recent years, I’ve been less than enamored with some of Nintendo’s decisions, both commercially and creatively, but nothing they do can ever take away the amount of fondness I have for that grey and purple plastic box....

Henry Hatsworth trailer rocks, reminds us why the game rocks

Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventurecame out, uh, roughly two billion years ago for the Nintendo DS. But as you’ll soon see, Electronic Arts doesn’t care about timing. Today, the publisher dropped a ridiculously funny trailer for the wicked old action-adventure-puzzle title. If you don’t ownHenry Hatsworthand have a DS, check your pulse. We loved it— so much, in fact, that we slapped the Editor’s Choice badge on the game. Part of the cold reasoning behind that honor was the game’s genuine wit — something that you can witness for yourself below the fold....

Here, watch Fable III’s opening cinematic

If you’re the kind of person who thinks that seeing the entire intro cinematic to a videogame is a “spoiler,” don’t watch the above video. Why? Because it’s the opening of Lionhead’sFable IIIin its entirety, as released by Microsoft and the developer this morning. At the risk of spoiling, let’s just say I’m glad I’m not a chicken. Because it seems in the world of Albion is not kind to domestic fowl....

Homophobic hackers take down GayGamer.net

Kotakureports that GayGamer.net, a gay gaming news site, was attacked by hate speech, threatening emails, anddenial of serviceattacks, eventually taking the site down. Kotaku’s own weekend editor Flynn De Marco (and the owner of GayGamer) says that the denial of service attacks started Wednesday. The web host was able to block the IP addresses of the attackers by that Friday, but that evening someone began posting hate messages, over sized images, and even death threats to the site’s forums and chat room....

Hori to release touch screen-enabled arcade stick for Otomedius

If you’re unfamiliar with Konami’s latest STG,Otomedius,go hereand be amazed. It hurts my heart to think about it, really. The game looks to be a delicious shmup experience, combining the same style of mecha musume character design found in games likeTriggerheart Exelicawith gameplay and level design reminiscent of Konami’s hilarious (and hard) classic cute-em-up,Parodius. Why would that make me sad, you ask? Well, it’s slated for release on Xbox 360 in Japan this September, and Konami has yet to breathe a word of it ever coming out anywhere else....

It’s a pink Wii! With glitter!

Oh God, how this burns my eyes! Just look at this thing! The paint job is just plain bad. It seems as though they’ve used a cheap quality paint for all this. On top of it, we’ve got a hot pink with sparkles. To quote Faith, “The thing is Hot Pink with Sparkles! That’s the worst kind of pink.” I guess you might buy this because it’s a Wii foronly $200 right now, but then again, that’s just animpulse buy....

It’s ‘impossible’ to get Flip’s Twisted World noticed

Getting a new IP noticed in this business is notoriously difficult in a business dominated by sequels and brand names. Frozen North Productions is no stranger to this fact as it attempts to get the word out aboutFlip’s Twisted World. I asked CEO Julian Spillane how difficult it’s been to find a spotlight for the game, and he was very frank with his answer. “In a word, impossible,” he admits. “When launching a new IP on a platform that is dominated by nostalgia giants likeMario, ZeldaandMetroidit’s very easy to become overshadowed by the imminent release of the next big sequel…especially when we have no real budget to market the title....

Jet pack shenanigans prevail in these Dark Void videos

I’ll admit I was skeptical whenDark Voidwas first announced. It looked like a very bland, generic “dark & gritty omg” style game. In many ways, it still resembles your typical current-gen shooting game. It’s lacking in bright colors, and we’re seeing the cover system that’s become a staple sinceGears of War. However, just because something isn’t totally fresh looking, doesn’t mean it can’t be fun, andDark Voidis certainly looking fun....

Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep trailer looks like this

I have an odd relationship with theKingdom Heartsseries. On on level, I love it. The RPG/action hybrid combat, the Walt Disney fan service, and theFinal Fantasycameos make it a truly interesting and fun series. However, the pompous story and limited vocabulary in which everybody says “heart” or “darkness” every eight seconds makes me want to vomit.Just take this upcoming PSP game, for example. It’s calledBirth By Sleep. What kind of up-its-own-arse name is that?...
