Rejected NXE design looks like it’s smeared with spunk

This is alittle glimpseof what the New Xbox Experience could well have become, and as you can see, everything looks like it was coated with a thin layer of semen. Or maybe that’s just how I choose to see things. Design firm Gridplane worked on these when NXE was in its early phases. Aesthetically, it looks a bit bleak, but it seems like navigation might have been a little more intuitive than the current “visuals-over-usability” focus of the official NXE....

Resident Evil 5: So not-racist it’s shocking

We all knewit was coming, but the absolutely retarded “Resident Evil 5is SO RACIST” debate has reached the mainstream press, who are likely incredibly aroused at the thought of being able to blame racial prejudice on videogames, as well as murder and rape. Huffington Post writer Earl Ofari Hutchinson makes his position clear, in an article that blatantly headlines itself “Resident Evil Racism.” “… It was no surprise that Jun Takeuchi yanked out that script to defend his video game brainchildResident Evil 5from the charge that it’s racist,” claims the reactionary whiner....

Review: Dante’s Inferno

Strip away marketing and PR controversy, and forget for a moment thatDante’s Infernois a videogame interpretation of a literary classic (albeit loosely). Sure, Visceral Games — the talented team behind the critically acclaimedDead Space— has taken a bit of flak for its attempts to turn Dante Alighieri’sThe Divine Comedyinto what could most easily be described as a “big-budget third-person action videogame.” But I think some people had forgotten that Visceral knows how to make fun, technically impressive games;Dante’s Infernois no exception....

It’s not really a rumor that Walmart had a listing for that pretty Japanese Mario 25th Anniversary DSi XL — that really happened. Their listing isn’t on their site anymore, butKotakusaw it. Scraps: I really want a manwich today (7/16/08)

When youlisten to E3 No’8, you’ll understand. Jim made quarter-pound upon half-pound references to the fact that Reggie is made of meat. I know that Reggie will never be allowed to visit the Destructoid offices, because those editors who are starved like rabid dogs would pounce and devour him instantaneously. It’d be a sight to see, though. So, the scraps tonight aren’t from what Reggie might have left behind on the Nintendo stage, but are still a bit juicy....
