While I was at Atari’s booth at Gen Con, I was able check out the upcomingNeverwinter Nights 2expansion,Storm of Zehir. The first thing that caught my eye, and additionally one of the key new features of the expansion, is the new Overland map. Players will now be able to navigate a fully realized map to fight monsters and find hidden dungeons and items. When I say hidden, think about how some of the caves in the originalLegend of Zeldawere dispersed in the trees....

Cologne, Germany is getting the orchestral game music hookup, thanks to producer Thomas Boecker. He’s bringingSymphonic Fantasiesto Europe this fall. This concert features 70 minutes of popular music from the Square Enix titlesFinal Fantasy,Kingdom Hearts, theChronoseries, theManaseries, and others. What does Take-Two Interactive’s chairman Strauss Zelnick do when their heavy hitter,Grand Theft Auto, isn’t coming out anytime soon? Bank on the next biggest thing. For them, their next big thing isBioShock 2. Zelnick admits thatBioShockwasn’t that big of a seller, even with its 50 game of the awards. It eventually sold about 3 million copies, but he’s hoping its sequel will move 5 million. “I’d like to see a title like that sell 5 million units....

It didn’t quite make any sense to me as a kid that Mario was able to grab a tanooki tail out of a mysterious box and suddenly fly, but the thing was I was having such a good time doing so that I kind of tossed logic out the door. The first officialDead Space 2trailer has finally crawled its way online. The new game follows Isaac Clarke once again and it appears that he’s not all right in the head.
