Game Arts? Hey, I love Game Arts. They’ve made many of my favorite games, including theLunarandGrandiaseries of games. Now they’ve released a WiiWare game that’s pretty far away from the previously mentioned role-playing titles. The new title,The Magic Obelisk, is actually a puzzle-style game. Lukus, a tree spirit, takes on a human form to break away from the elder tree to find his own place to take root and grow. He is accompanied by Popo, a flying creature that doubles as a light source (you’ll see) and a guide for the unseasoned traveler…....

Last year, Activision and developer Freestyle Games entered the already-crowded music gaming market with not only a new game, but a new peripheral. The game wasDJ Hero, and along with its turntable peripheral, it was a hit at retail, with reviewers, and with gamers alike. So it’s no surprise thatDJ Hero 2is hitting shelves only a year later. But this isn’t simply a quick cash in, as the sequel outshines the original in almost every way, making it a sure-thing for fans and newcomers alike....

The key word being “free.” As of update 1.3, Trion Worlds will allowRIFTplayers to transfer over to “select servers” in their territory as often as once per week. Items, achievements, and titles will be retained. Transfers will stay free for “the foreseeable future, and could become a permanent addition” beyond this summer’s 1.3 patch. Commendable move, Trion.

Ah, the PS3 Slim. Rumor magnet. First we heard that one existed, and thenwe saw what was said to be images of the device. Following that, Destructoid recieved a janky e-mailed cease and dessist letter that we laughed at. Things calmed down for a bit, but now we hear that Sony has awarded two Taiwanese firms manufacturing contracts, and that units are slated to be delivered by July. According to the rumor, Taiwanese companies Foxconn and Pegatron have signed agreements to make the flattened-out console....

God. Stop me if you’ve heard this or something like this before: The new Zune will play games. The new Zune will have an iTunes-like App store. The new Zune can teleport people and increase your penis size. If I had a nickel for every time I heard something about the new Zune, well, I would have enough to buy stock in the new Zune. It’s coming, and from everything we’ve been hearing, E3 is the big debut....

We’ve got another Xbox LIVE Arcade Wednesday loaded with content; whether or not that content isgood, I’ll leave for you to decide. In addition to the three games mentioned in the title of this post, there’s also new DLC forN+andBuku Sudoku, which I’ll touch upon after the break. First, there’sSamurai Shodown II(400 Microsoft Points). While it’s nice to see a classic SNK fighter priced so attractively, this XBLA version appears to be nothing more than a straight-up port....

Scene It? Box Office Smashdownloadable content is on the way. Microsoft has announced the Award Winners pack that will feature over 300 questions pertaining to award winning films. It will also contain a new mode called Pop Quiz that offers 600 true and false-style questions. The DLC will be available on February 13 for 560 Microsoft Points. I don’t remember anything costing that amount of space bucks before, however the big “M” is known for its trendsetting....

Full disclosure: I love tower defense style games. South Park’s also great, but tower defense is where it’s at for me. Put them together and you haveSouth Park Let’s Go Tower Defense, a new game scheduled to come out October 7th on Xbox Live Arcade. The game was unveiled at Comic-con, and we had the pleasure of giving it a spin. Now that I’ve played it, I’m glad to say that it’s not just a generic tower defense game with the South Park brand shoehorned in....

While we’re not sure if we needed aCastlevanialive-action film, this is an interesting twist — James Wan, best known for his work on theSAWfranchise, will be directing the Paul W.S. Anderson produced film. While it’s early on in the project, Wan tellsBloody-Disgustingthat he’ll be working on the script with a writer, giving it his own twist. “This will have my stamp on it, which Konami is very excited about,” he says....

Developer Codemasters threw out the red card on recent Xbox Live Arcade releaseSensible World of Soccer, sending it off to have a bug fixed. According toGamesIndustry.biz, an incorrect version of the title was made availble on Live, and it seems that this version disconnects gamers while playing online. A corrected version is on its way soon; any users that have already downloaded the game will have to delete it and re-download when the correct version is released....

I like to swing my microphones around by their cord. That could be like a battle mode! Mic Mace mode. You have to hit your friends with a swinging mic upside the headon the beat. That’s not at all what PS3 singing gameSingStar‘s new Online Battle Mode is, though. With a new downloadable update, you’re able to now pick the Online Battle option. From there you’ll be able to pick an opponent from your friends list....
