At Toy Fair 2011 in New York this weekend, Square Enix has a bunch of game related toys and figures to show off that you might be interested in. There’s tons of newFinal Fantasygoods on display there, saysTomopop. Most notable are new Dissidia Play Arts Kai figures of Cloud, Squall and Gabranth, and in their story gallery on the new items you’ll find images of new trading cards, jewelery and epic Chocobo plushies....

The competition for this year’s Independent Games Festival is as fierce as ever. One entrant,Marvin’s Mittens, caught my eye. In part becausethe developersreached out to me (tee-hee!), but also because I dig platformers quite a bit — especially ones that draw inspiration fromKnytt. Their intent is to release this as an Xbox LIVE Indie Game this winter with a possible simultaneous release on PC, or one “shortly thereafter.” Breakfall’s Mike Keogh says that “atmosphere and sense of exploring the world” are the two big takeaways forMarvin’s Mittens....

DtoiderMr PORCand friends have a very … unique hobby. They like to sing videogame music in a sad way. They even cry a little while singing the songs sometimes. It’s a pretty strange hobby, yet it’s also hilarious and amazing. Mr PORC’s stuff is actually rather refreshing in my opinion. I don’t expect many of you to care too much about this, but this is just infuriating to me. In case you don’t know, I’m of Afghan descent but never have actually stepped foot on Afghan soil. The war of the late ’80s found my family fleeing to safer places. After 9/11, the country finally started to fix itself up thanks to U.S.-backed aid.
