Storybook-esque platformer Marvin’s Mittens looks charming

The competition for this year’s Independent Games Festival is as fierce as ever. One entrant,Marvin’s Mittens, caught my eye. In part becausethe developersreached out to me (tee-hee!), but also because I dig platformers quite a bit — especially ones that draw inspiration fromKnytt. Their intent is to release this as an Xbox LIVE Indie Game this winter with a possible simultaneous release on PC, or one “shortly thereafter.” Breakfall’s Mike Keogh says that “atmosphere and sense of exploring the world” are the two big takeaways forMarvin’s Mittens....

Videogame music sung sadly

DtoiderMr PORCand friends have a very … unique hobby. They like to sing videogame music in a sad way. They even cry a little while singing the songs sometimes. It’s a pretty strange hobby, yet it’s also hilarious and amazing. Mr PORC’s stuff is actually rather refreshing in my opinion. Videogames may get banned in Afghanistan

The war of the late ’80s found my family fleeing to safer places. After 9/11, the country finally started to fix itself up thanks to U.S.-backed aid. Everything for the most part was looking fine, but this recent bill submission has me extremely worried....

Warhammer 40k’s Space Marines are still awesome

ThisWarhammer 40,000: Space Marine‘behind the scenes’ video — made available by the good guys atMachinima— explains what Space Marines and Titans are, and why Orks are your main enemy. Because, you know, they shoot and this is a third-person shooter game with melee attacks. AlsoChaos. Space Marinecertainly looks better than back when it was first announced, so here’s hoping that Relic can make as fine a40kaction game as they make real-time strategy games....
