At Microsoft’s E3 press briefing this morning, EA Sports president Peter Moore came out on stage and announced that the sports mega-publisher will be augmenting some of its biggest upcoming games with Kinect support. Four games launching in the next 12 months will feature Kinect integration:Madden NFL 12,FIFA 12,Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13, and an as-yet-unannounced title. Ships, submarines, aircraft … oh my! If a recent trademark is any indication, it looks like fans of the World War II-based real-time strategy/action hybrid,Battlestations: Midway, are in for a treat. On December 20, Eidos Interactive filed a trademark forBattlestations: Pacific.A logical conclusion would be that this is the sequel to the Xbox 360/PC title,Battlestations: Midway, which hit shelves in January of this year. The game receivedaverage reviews, none of which I could vouch for, because I don’t play games unless you’re able to rip off a human’s head or beat up hookers....

According to the guys atGaming Today, they’ve recently had to remove two trailers forDark Sectorbecause, many months after their official releases, the ESRB has suddenly decided it didn’t like the “excessive or offensive content” found within. At the request of the developers, Gaming Today has pulled the trailers, but is understandably confused as to why the ESRB has put the squeeze on this great looking game....

According tothis storyfound on Reuters, Franco Frattini (the EU Justice and Security Commissioner) has decided that Germany hasthe right ideaabout violent games. Apparently the rest of the EU has been too lenient regarding the sale of games to minors in the past, so Frattini (whose name could only be more Italian if it was “Earnesto Spaghetti-Os”) believes the entireity of the EU should create a uniform set of rules regarding violent games....

The United States hasalready seen a price drop, and now it looks like Europe is going to get a break on the Xbox 360 HD DVD drive as well. Next-Genreports that Microsoft announced a €20 price reduction of the drive add-on during the IFA electronics trade fair in Germany, bringing the suggested retail price down to €180. Bethesda has released a trailer for the upcomingFallout: New Vegasdownloadable content,Dead Money. The DLC, which is exclusive to the Xbox 360 until further notice, features an epic heist with a twist that reminds me of that classic Rutger Hauer film, Wedlock. Your copy of the local Sunday newspaper won’t be the only place you’ll be finding word games this weekend.
