Dust is like Odin Sphere for furries

Elysian Tail: Dustis an XNA-developed game by Dean Dodrill that is currently in its Pre-Alpha phase. There are two very interesting things about this particular title. First of all, it looks absolutely stunning, and even in its early stages, appears to look better than anything that hasevergone before on XNA. Second of all, it’s sort of a furry game. That’s a good thing, too, because it looks absolutely gorgeous and the gameplay appears to be incredibly promising....

E3 09: Echochrome series goes portable with Echochrono

While I have to be in the right mood to playEchochrome, I absolutely loved everything about the game’s simple look and elegant approach when it was finally released last year (not to mention the soundtrack is gorgeous and one of my favorites of its kind). Apparently the game did well enough to warrant a sequel, which is coming to PSN and PSP this fall, calledEchochrono. The game’s name is a working title, so it may not be called that by the time it’s finally released, but one look at it and you can already tell there are some new things to discover....

E3 09: Hands-on with Afrika

People were quick to call Sony’sAfrikaa high-resolutionPokemon Snapwithout the Pokemon. I can appreciate that: Both games have animals (or animal-ish things) that run around a field, and both have game play that involves players snapping a virtual picture of moving subjects. ButAfrikahas so much more depth that it’s almost wrong to even joke about comparing the two. Or, go ahead and joke. I’d say thatAfrikawould appeal more to camera buffs. Or animal buffs....

E3 10: Here’s what Heavy Rain looks like with PS Move

We’veknown for a whilethat PlayStation Move support will eventually be patched in toHeavy Rain, and atE3, we found out that bringing Move to the game istaking precedenceover the next DLC chapter after “The Taxidermist.” But this trailer for Move-infusedHeavy Rainseems to suggest that Sony will, in addition to patching the original game, put out a separate disc called “Heavy Rain: Move Edition.” Whether or not that’s actually happening,Heavy Rainwith PlayStation Move does look good, and since developer Quantic Dream had been planning this all along,Heavy Rain: Move Editionmay turn out to be the definitive version of the game....

E3 10: Rage to get first playable at QuakeCon 2010

id Software’s impressiveRageis getting its first public console showing at E3 this year, but we won’t be getting our hands on the sticks: it’s not playable here at the show. It certainly is playable, however. The demo we’ve seen is real-time, and looks spectacular running on the Xbox 360. id Software says it’s running as well on the PlayStation 3, as well. So why not hand us the controller? id has to save something for QuakeCon, doesn’t it?...

E3 10: Scott Pilgrim game is Pirate-Baby-Cabanatastic

I went out on a limb and putScott Pilgrim Vs. The WorldaboveThe Last Guardian,Zelda Wii,and evenMarvel Vs. Capcom 3on mymost anticipated games of E3 10 list. That was before I actually saw the game in action. For all I knew, the game would be a poorly animated cash-in. It took a lot of trust in the game’s creative team (headed by Paul Robertson) to tell the world how excited I am for the game....

E3: Wii U gets Rhythm Heaven-hot with some pirate sh*t

I’m actually about to run out of time here at E3, so I have to make this post short. There is a Wii U demo of a game calledShield Posewhere you have to use the Wii U’s camera, separate screen functionality, and motion controls to block arrows shot at you by an extremely polite pirate skeleton. You must do this to the beat, which is appropriate, as the music and sound effects sound as though they were taken straight fromRhythm Heaven....

Expert says that NOT playing games is what set off Columbine Massacre

The Denver Post has a report quoting researcher / psychiatrist Jerald Block saying that cutting off Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold from their in-game violence is what led them to their RL violence. Hit the jump for some “experts” and all their fancy talk on the subject. Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold went on a killing rage in 1999 at Columbine High School in Colorado because they were abruptly denied access to their computers, an Oregon psychiatrist says in a published study....

Famitsu predictions for ’07

Famitsu recently held another series of polls regarding software/hardware sales in 2007 in Japan. The results are exactly what you would expect them to be. In short, the DS and Wii are ruling, followed by the PS3 and the 360 slowly jogging along in fourth place. “What piece of hardware or software do you think will be the break away hit of 2007?” Yep. No surprises there. Next up is “Which system do you think will sell the best in 2007?...
