I think it’s a safe bet to say that we all have heard aboutHalo 3: ODST. We know about its story, its background andits gameplay. In fact I’m pretty sure since it’s aHalogame that there are plenty of people out there who know every detail they could possibly get their hands on about the game. So what was discussed at the PAX panel on the game? All that stuff of course, but the devs also revealed thatODSTwouldfeature a fully developed sub-storythat is separate from the main plot of the game....

Sony has today announced that the PlayStation 3 has sold fifty million units worldwide, and yes, that’ssold. Sony isn’t pulling thesneaky “shipped” trickthis time. The system launched in 2006 and currently boasts over 75 million registered PlayStation Network accounts and 105,988 pieces of digital content on the PlayStation Store. Prototype, the rather exciting-looking smash & suck-’em-up from Sierra, is going to get its own promotional comic by way of DC. DC Comics will be publishing a whole series based on the adventures of hoodie-loving mutant Alex Mercer. Sierra didn’t send us any other details, which makes my job frustratingly difficult, as our press release merely states that more details on the comic will be announced later this year. Now that hardly makes this paragraph worth me hitting the “enter” key for, mate....

Earlier this week, Sony had confirmed thatthe PSPgo was ceasing productionso it could concentrate on the upcoming NGP. However, Sony Computer Entertainment America apparently still has use for the thing, as it will continue distribution in North America. Like a three-eyed newborn still kicking and screaming over the furnace where it belongs, the PSPgo is clinging onto life. Seems a little unkind to me, but whatever. I guess North Americans are still somehow getting suckered into buying an expensive piece of garbage that nobody is supporting....
Never has the nameRAGEbeen more appropriate for console gamers, with word that non-computer versions of id Software’s upcoming shooter will have some controversial requirements — whichever machine you pick. The Xbox 360 version will need three DVDs in order to house all the pretty images of hideous mutants, while the PS3 version carries an 8GB installation. Ouch! “Sony was great. Kudos to Sony for letting us do that. They don’t allow every game to do that....
One of the reasons that I usually don’t care either way about HD visuals is that today’s developers seem to be so focused on using that extra fidelity for stuff like pock marks andrealistic acne. If that kind of “realism” was my thing, I wouldn’t have gotten into videogames in the first place. I would have chosen to write about movies, television, or some other more acne-prone form of entertainment....
