Xbox Live Indie Explosive Gas does multiplayer creatively

Explosive Gasis aBomberman-esque Xbox Live Indie game that does a good job of feeling like the older installments in that series while also throwing in some modern design concepts. We had enough fun playing it on our showSaturday Morning Hangoverthat Conrad featured it inhis recap post. There were a few things aboutExplosive Gasthat I had missed, and I wanted to mention those here. One of the guys who worked on the game, Mike Keogh, kindly alerted me to the fact that you can get a full eight-person session going offline by putting two players on each controller....

4Gamer interview with Keiji Inafune is ginormous

On October 18, Japanese game site 4Gamer conducted aninterviewwith the then-still-employed Keiji Inafune. He shocked the interviewer right at the start with the announcement of hisdeparture from Capcomby month’s end, steering the conversation into a wildly different direction than planned. The transcript was posted on October 29, and three days later, it received anEnglish translationfrom NeoGAF user Cheesemeister. The result is a whopping 10,000-word epic that delivers one of the most candid, most insightful snapshots of the Japanese gaming industry that I’ve ever read....

All-in-one system seller sent to prison, fined

You know those stupid 69,000-in-one consoles you see at flea markets and street vendors? They’re the ones that look like a Nintendo 64 controller and have several dozen NES games tucked away on some memory chip. Yeah, those pieces of crap. The guys selling those seem to be everywhere you go, don’t they? Well, if the FBI has their way, they won’t be for long. One Oakland, Florida reseller was hawking wired and wireless models, both with over 70 games built-in, of the Power Player Super Joy III system for $24 and $48 dollars respectively....

Arkham Asylum 2 will be Hamill’s last as The Joker

If there’s one game to be nervously excited about, it’sBatman: Arkham Asylum 2. For every negative from the original game Rocksteadycan potentially addressin the sequel, there’s the lingering fear that what made the first so special won’t necessarily work a second time. It’s been awfully quiet on this front for a while now, so to make up for the silence, Mark Hamill has got your back with some thought-provoking statements. Talking with IGN at the Cannes Film Festival, he spoke of his hesitance to voice The Joker inArkham Asylum 2....

Billy Madison Game Debate to the Death! Donkey Kong Country VS Mortal Kombat II

Whenever one side got in a punch, the other side almost always countered with one of their own. It’s been a long time since tallying the votes of a debate has been so much fun....

CES 2009: Over 110,000 ill-dressed douchebags in attendance this year

According to retail publicationTwice, over 110,000 balding, overweight, blue-jacket-with-brown-slacks-wearing douchebags waddled the floors of the Las Vegas Convention Center this week to check out the new wares at the 2009 Consumer Electronics Show. Of course, they called them “attendees,” but we have better names for them. This isn’t a final number; that will come in a couple of months. CES: Rock Band 3 Midi Pro Adapter hits shelves full force

The Rock Band 3 Midi Pro Adapter technically came out at the end of 2010, but they’re still pretty hard to find out in the wild. Best Buy had a few at launch, but that was about it. Those musicians that wanted to try connecting their MIDI drums, keyboards and guitars up to RB3 were up a creek. That will change says Mad Catz VP of Marketing, Michael Greco. He told Destructoid yesterday that we can expect the product to be hitting store shelves “full force” any day now....

Computer Games Magazine goes the way of the (geeky, overclocked) dodo

In Disney movies, longevity guarantees you a nice gold watch, a beautiful, yet matronly wife and a retirement bungalow in the hills overlooking Malibu; sadly, the real world was not part of Walt Disney’s fever dream of how thingsshouldbe.Computer Games Magazine, the second longest-running PC gaming magazine in existence, isbeing shuttered(along with sister magazineMassive) by publisher, TheGlobe.com.
