Galaga Legions DX hits PSN, XBLA this week

Galaga Legions DXis hitting Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network this week, Namco Bandai has confirmed withEurogamer. TheGalaga Legionsname might sound familiar — it hit XBLA back in 2008. This “deluxe” version is the follow up, and looks as crazy as the original. From the trailer, it looks like there are new firing modes in the game, including the ability to shoot in multiple directions. I’ve been a big fan of Namco’s remakes, includingPac-Man Championship Editionand theDXfollow up....

Game Debate to the Death! 11/21/06

Last week‘s game debate put the Wii against the PS3, and Dtoid readers made their choice: There’s no way I could read those Dtoid stats with a straight face — the black behemoth bravado of the PS3 just got kicked in the electrojunk. It might not be the biggest landslide win we’ve seen in past game debates, but it’s definitely one to mark in the books. I’m not sure what books exactly, I recommend doodling the outcome in random Waldenbooks novels on their last pages – maybe you could leave the PS3 vote outcome blank and give the story an unexpectedcliffhanger ending....

Story: Callahan’s titular saloon is a meeting place on the edge of space and time. Any person from any part of the universe, from any time, can come in to drink, play a game, or tell a story....

GTA IV ‘great, but no miracle’ says Wall Street Journal

Junot Díaz, writing for theWall Street Journal, hasconfessedthat although he lovesGrand Theft Auto IV, and recognizes it as art, it is not the messianic miracle that game critics have claimed it to be. He says holding it up to movies likeThe Godfather, as some reviwers have done, speaks too highly of a game that is great, but notthatgreat. OK, let me be clear: I loveGTA IVand I have no doubt that it is art, but an equal to “The Sopranos” or “The Godfather“?...

Halo Wars is popular, one million copies sold worldwide

This just in:Halois popular. What, you want proof? Fine. Microsoft announced, today, that Ensemble’sHalo Warshas sold one million copies. Apparently, that cements the title as the “best-selling” RTS on any current gen console. While you could argue endlessly that console strategy games blow, it still won’t change the fact that an army of Master Chiefs just pwned the busty vixens ofCommand & Conquer Red Alert 3. Microsoft didn’t stop the number announcement party there....

HAPPY 20th BIRTHDAY SONIC THE HEDGEHOG!

Today is the 20th anniversary of my favorite ever hedgehog that is blue and runs fast and is in videogames and is called Sonic. In all seriousness, as much crap as I’ve given Sonic games, I genuinely love that little blue fella.Sonic 2was the first game I ever got the first console that was properly mine (and my brother’s), the Sega Genesis — or Mega Drive, as it is known in the UK where I used to live....
