Preview: Burn Zombie Burn!

You know, I was going to come out and say it, but I think we’ve reached a saturation point for zombie games. Yet, and I strongly qualify that “yet,” like zombies themselves, the market never seems to die. So it’s with not much surprise that the PlayStation Network is receivingBurn Zombie Burn!later this month, a decidedly light-hearted and arcade-styled take on making the undead dead. While I might be a little bit burned out of killing zombies, I knew I had to give it a chance....

PSPgo ships with built-in ESRB ratings

The PSPgo might be seen by some as a rather useless, unnecessary, expensive little addition to the PlayStation Portable family, but there’s no denying it has some rather neat little features, even if those features aren’t entirely must-have items. One of those neat features is therecently revealedin-built ESRB ratings, allowing parents access to rating information wherever they go. Parents who aren’t stupidshouldknow the ESRB ratings anyway, but parents who are only slightly stupid will now be able to check for appropriate games on their child’s PSPgo....

Review: Batman: Arkham Asylum

Finding a licensed superhero game which stays true to the source material while still managing to be fun is ridiculously hard. Just ask a fan ofSupermanhow they feel about the assorted attempts to bring the Man of Steel to consoles and you’re likely to hear groans of contempt coupled with regretful sighs.Batmanhas fared better, with most of his games at least playable if not necessarily good experiences. Batman: Arkham Asylumworks to change all that and works very, very hard....

Review: Ufouria: The Saga

If you’re a Wii owner, you’re probably focused onMetroid: Other Mright now. The eighthMetroidgame has already proven to be quite controversial, due in no small part to the widely variant review scores the game has received. Most of the game’s harsher critics state that it doesn’t prioritize the strengths of priorMetroidgames — namely, non-linear exploration and a subtle use of atmosphere to evoke a sense of isolation. Ufouriacould be the answer forMetroidfans who aren’t into otherOther M....

Last week, Jim Sterling showed you the amazing events that occurred atSonic’s 20th birthday party. There are a couple of things that Jim didn’t show you, though. One was thatSonic Generationswas at the party. I played it, and I can tell you that the game does indeed have a pretty good physics engine.Sonic 4-physics haters need not be concerned. Sonic Generations goes modern in new trailer

Ah, the “modern” era of Sonic, by far the most questionable era in all of history. This new trailer celebrates Sonic’s more controversial outings, showcasing remade levels fromSonic Colors,Sonic Unleashedand the ill-fatedSonic 2006. All pessimism aside, Rooftop Run fromSonic Unleashedis one of my favorite Sonic levels ever, and a perfect showcase for how great 3D-oriented Sonic stages can be when they’re done right. If they don’t mess with that level too much, then there’s definitely hope yet!...

Sony admits that PSP piracy ‘fuels the growth of hardware sales’

I know it, you know it, and you know that Sony has always been aware. But it’s weird to actually hear them say it. “There is a piracy problem on PSP. We know about it, we know how it’s done,” says SCEE President David Reeves, at a recent DevStation conference in London. According toNextGen, Sony is looking into a way to combat this piracy “problem,” but, in the meantime, this very problem is boosting sales, and Sony is totally aware of this....
