AMD kills the ATI name for their cards and chips

Man, that’s kind of sad. I’ve had ATI stuff in my PC rigs for a long time. And remember the ATI logo on our GameCube systems? It’s all over now as AMD, owner of the popular graphics accelerators and technology line, has decided to pull the plug on the ATI brand. After 25 years the name will disappear from their products. Apple’s iPad tablet announced, reaches for gamers

We’ve been hearing about it forever now. It’s the next “worst kept secret.” It’s Apple’s new big-assed iPhone looking thing, called the iPad, and it was just announced by Steve Jobs at Apple’s conference in San Francisco. A “truly magical product,” he calls it. It’s a digital tablet. It’s “between a laptop and a smartphone.” Browsing. Email. Photos. Videos. Music. Games. eBooks. “Way better than a laptop, way better then a phone,” says Jobs....

Art Attack Friday: Robert Kim

From time to time I will pledge my fangirlism through bouts of loopy line work and casual cross-hatching, efforts which result in what I typically consider to be mini works made entirely of win and awesome. These self-proclaimed masterpieces are then framed and lined across my night stand to remind me of the quality of my artistic mimicry, so that I may sleep soundly fully assured that I do good yobs....

CES: iPad Fling controller is pretty awesome

Sticking a thumb pad on an iPad with a suction cup doesn’t sound it would work well, but it really does in this case. I had a chance to get hands-on with the Fling from Ten One Design today, and I came away impressed. Two little suction cups stick right on your iPad’s glass. Connected to those cups is a thumbpad that glides effortlessly across the iPad. The rings of plastic create a resistance that feels like a quality analog stick, and letting go of it returns the pad to center, just like a real controller....
