Rumor: Attend gaming conventions on your 360

Attending E3— it’s the ultimate dream. And trust me, as someone who has been there twice, it should be. Hell, it’s the reason Destructoid exists. E3 is absolutelypukka. It takes a a lot of work to get there, though. Breaking into the games industry is not the easiest thing to do, and while some may luck out, being an attendee at E3 is a pretty exclusive club. But what if you could go to E3 without doing all the work it takes to break into the gaming industry?...

See the 3DS Augmented Reality cards in action

I love the whole Augmented Reality system that Nintendo has put into the 3DS. It’s like a bunch of fun bonuses with purchase. I didn’t buy the 3DS for this stuff, but these cards and games are a really neat way to show off several different types of technology working together. You get touchscreen, 3D, and graphics tech all layered into something that’s going to blow young minds when they finally see it....

Recently there’s been quite a bit of talk regarding a potential PlayStation Phone. Rumors have been swimming around concerning such a mythical hybrid pretty much all year, and now Sony Ericsson CEO Bert Nordberg has stepped into the fray, coyly dancing around a confirmation. “There’s a lot of smoke, and I tell you there must be a fire somewhere,” he states, possibly while smiling seductively from behind a painted paper fan....

Sony has 14 million ‘active accounts’ on PSN

Yesterday, Sony’s PlayStation 3 turned two years old. In addition to anofficial postingabout the benchmark, Sony’s hardware marketing director John Koller hit fans with some hard numbers, the most striking of which is that 14 million out of a possible 17 million PlayStation 3 owners are maintaining “active accounts” on PlayStation Network. With the Christmas season rapidly approaching, I keep thinking about the kid who is getting a new console. If I were to put myself in his parents’ shoes, what would I buy?...

Sony not worried by PSP Go price

If the PSP Go has one thing going against it, it’s the fact that the bloody thing costs so much money. Sony loves expensive hardware, and when it was revealed to cost a princely $249, people balked. Even worse is the case of Europe, where it’ll ship for 249 Euros, with absolutely zero concession made for the higher currency strength. That’s akin to almost $350, but luckily for Sony, itdoesn’t give a crap....

The latest installment in theSplinter Cellseries,Splinter Cell: Convitction, has been pushed back until 2008. Square Enix opens Dragon Quest IX theme bar

Did you hear?Dragon Quest IXis quite popular in Japan! So popular, in fact, that Square Enix has opened up a bar themed entirely around the legendary RPG series. Ludia’s Pub is opening on January 28 in Roppongi and it’s a ludicrous idea. Ludicrous it might be, but given Japan’s rabid obsession forDragon Quest, it will probably do quite well. Fans can hop in to game with fellow followers of the franchise, but they can also get some food and drink while they do it....
