I love the whole Augmented Reality system that Nintendo has put into the 3DS. It’s like a bunch of fun bonuses with purchase. I didn’t buy the 3DS for this stuff, but these cards and games are a really neat way to show off several different types of technology working together. You get touchscreen, 3D, and graphics tech all layered into something that’s going to blow young minds when they finally see it....

Previously announced as an Xbox LIVE Indie title, Ska Studios’Charlie Murderis now set as a full-fledged Xbox LIVE Arcade release. According to a press release sent out today, the game has been picked up for publishing by Microsoft, and will see release on the service in 2012. Yes, as in almost two yeas from now. I had a chance to play a demo of the game at PAX, and had quite a bit of fun with the violent, over-the-top beat ’em up....

That, ladies and gentlemen, is the Wii Light, and it sounds about as ball-crazy as you could possibly imagine. Patented back in 2009, the device consists of a sequence of red, blue, and green LEDs that can output light in different hues and intensities. Yesterday, Sony’s PlayStation 3 turned two years old. Ludia’s Pub is opening on January 28 in Roppongi and it’s a ludicrous idea. Ludicrous it might be, but given Japan’s rabid obsession forDragon Quest, it will probably do quite well. Fans can hop in to game with fellow followers of the franchise, but they can also get some food and drink while they do it....

Square Enix announced today a partnership withGas Powered Games, marking the first time the Japanese company has struck up a deal with a firm outside Japan. We’ve heard that Square Enix planned to expand west lately, and this seems to be their first step. Eons ago, Famitsu hosted a stream event forSuper Street Fighter IV. Internet super sleuths (SFfans) were no doubt excited for this little taste. But it appears the demo did more than wet whistles — it also revealed ten fresh characters are slated to hit Capcom’s upcoming fighter. It’s all in the character select screen.
