As my first post on my first day back at work, I really wanted to set the tone as positive. And with corgis. For a Harry Potter fan this is easily the ZOMGBESTSUMMEREVER! Not only did the videogame based on the upcoming 5th movie,Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, just come out this past week, but next month will also bring with it the release of said movie, plus the grand unveiling of the final, 7th book in the hugely successful series (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows). Being the self-proclaimed biggest Harry Potter fan in the Destructoid network, I obviously couldn’t wait to get my hands on the game....

Usually, you can expect three save slots for almost every DS game out there, but it’s become apparent that Square Enix’sDragon Quest IXwill only allow you to haveoneat any given time. Nowthat’shardcore. The intel comes courtesy ofDragon Quest IX‘s back cover, which was leaked online recently. In the bottom right hand corner is a warning that says “Only one save game can be created.” Certainly unusual stuff, and should make the game even tougher and create a real sense of urgency in the player’s choice....
Good news everyone! E3 2009 was a success! Over 41,000 attendees from 78 countries came to the Los Angeles convention center to check out new games and tech from 216 exhibitors. If you remember from last year, a lot of people were unhappy with how E3 08 turned out. PlatformerDrawn to Lifehas made its way to the Wii (and back to the DS again) inDrawn to Life: The Next Chapter, THQ’s game that lets you draw your own hero and then play with it. Or draw your own penis man and play with it. They wouldn’t let me draw any penis men, but I did get to check out the Wii version in action here at E3. InDrawn to Life: The Next Chapter, players will draw over 100 items to aid them through traverse the lands and find the Artifacts of Power....

Dutch developer Ronimo Games (Swords and Soldiers, the originalde Blobstudent project) has been hard at work on a 2D multiplayer battle arena game for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. Technically, it’s a MOBA game (League of Legends,Defence of the Ancients) with a strong arcade focus. There are not a whole lot of details onAwesomenautsyet, but the trailer should give you a pretty good idea of what the game is like....
It seems that Sony isn’t the only corporation hopping aboard the “don’t sue us” bandwagon. Electronic Arts has also been inspired byAT&T’s recent shenanigans, quietly adding a clause that forbids Origin users from joining class action suits. It’s worth noting that the publisher actuallychanged its terms of servicebeforeSony did, so it seems inspired by the same AT&T source rather than the PS3 platform holder. That’s EA for you — providing innovations for the game industry in all the wrong ways....
