Japan just got its first batch ofPlay on Wiititles — the classic Nintendo GameCube games refitted for the Wii — earlier this month. Today, Nintendo has officially announced some of those titles for a North American release, with a small change. It seems these GameCube classics will be recognizable by theNew Play Control!title — NewPlay Control! Mario Power TennisandNew Play Control! Pikminare both scheduled for a March 2009 release. The name makes a good deal of sense, as both games have been tweaked to take control of both the Wii Remote and the nunchuck....

It was announced yesterday, but Nintendo Video has launched today for the Nintendo 3DS. The Nintendo Video program is located on the eShop, and it’s a free download, so you have little excuse not to get it if you have a 3DS. The program will auto-download (via SpotPass) 3D video content directly to your 3DS on a regular basis. The first batch of videos include a trailer forCaptain America: The First Avenger, a short animated clip about jogging, a funny video of dinosaurs in an office, and a promo video for Nintendo Video… which you’d already know about if you have Nintendo Video installed....

2K Play has announced that it be releasingCarnival Games: Monkey See, Monkey Doexclusively for the Xbox 360 this year. The only thing surprising about this announcement is that it wasn’t a launch title, because it’s hard to imagine how long the development cycle of aCarnival Gamestitle could possibly be. Monkey See, Monkey Dowas allegedly built from the ground up for Kinect, and will include five theme-park style areas, like Coaster Corner and Whirligig Way....

Codemasters is pumping out theOverlord-themed goodies this year, withOverlord IIcoming to PC, Xbox 360 and PS3,Overlord Minionshitting the DS andOverlord Dark Legendinvading the Wii. The originalPataponwas one of those games that I felt I could play ten or twenty minutes of and then just save and come back to later, which for me is a great quality in a game. I’ve always known thatRetro City Rampagewas going to be funny. After playing it, I now know that it’s going to be fun; really,reallyfun. The game’s simple controls and interface make the game incredibly easy to jump into. From there, you’ve got so much stuff to do, and it all happens so fast, with the pefect mixture of action and comedy. Picture a modernGTAgame, but sped up by about x1.5, and with rocket launchers, flame throwers, milk bars, and violent pedestrianseverywhere....

While Vogster’s brawleroriginally shipped on the PlayStation Portable, it was originally designed on a PC, with high definition visuals in mindUnbound Saga. Last week, the game hit Xbox 360’s Xbox Live Arcade, with crisp HD visuals along with other additional like local and online cooperative play. Why is it always the creators of the cute stuff that seem to be the most ruthless and aggressive? The Pokemon Company seems to be pulling a Disney, suing the creator ofPokemon Unofficial Collector!magazine for using photographs of Pokemon Cards. The company alleges that Beckett Media LLC publishes a monthly collector’s guide to Pokemon cards, listing the rarities and providing photos of selected ones without consent. Beckett has argued that consent was implied due to the fact that the Pokemon Company has used the magazine for advertising space before and didn’t complain before....

Assassin’s Creedwas one of my favorite games to come out in 2007. There, I’ll admit it. Yes, some of the stuff was boring, and yes, I wasn’t able to finish the game due to my stolen Xbox 360 and the save file, but damn if that game didn’t offer exhilarating moments in an incredibly fascinating world. That’s why I’m so disappointed with the change from Altair’s Middle Eastern, Crusader’s era to Ezio’s Renaissance Italy inAssassin’s Creed II....
