According to the latest issue of the Japanese videogame magazine Weekly Famitsu, Camelot Software (Mario Golf) has announcedWii Love Golf… for the Wii, of course. The title will be published by Capcom in Japan, and will feature anime-style characters along the lines of what’s seen in theHot Shotsseries of games. Not surprisingly, the Wii remote will act as a golf club, with players pointing at the screen to choose direction. When the player swings, the game will switch to a first person view that simulates the swing of a real golf club, with the ball on the floor....

Earlier this week,quite serious allegationswere leveled at Microsoft, as the company stood accused of releasing software that would improve Kinect as a product. Naturally, Microsoft has moved to ensure that such libel is challenged — emphaticallydenyingthat Kinect is going to get better. When questioned as to whether Kinect would indeed received a software update that would quadruple the peripheral’s accuracy, a Microsoft rep said, “We’re constantly working to expand and improve on experiences for Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE....

Really, you have no excuse for not taking part in theUncharted 2demo if you owned a PS3 and really wanted to. It was really just a demo disguised as a beta (like most “betas” on consoles) and codes were being thrown around so casually, that anybody who wanted them should have been able to get five. Nonetheless, if you dig Uncharted and somehow missed the beta, fear no. Naughty Dog has reiterated that a widespread multiplayer demo will be coming....

Namco Bandai likes money, as anybody who has witnessed its impressive dedication to saturating the DLC market can attest. Lots and lots of delicious treasure can be found on the iPhone, so it’s no surprise that Namco islooking to sink its teethinto Apple’s latest cash cow. Namco have brought on board a former full-time employee, Jonathan Kromrey, to help them develop iPhone games. Kromrey believes that from now on, every week will see some new iPhone announcement from the publisher, believing that Apple’s mobile platform represents a “gold rush” that can’t be missed....

Namco Bandai, the company that happily sells unlockable on-disc content as DLC, has actually said that videogames are too expensive. Can you believe that? We almost can’t, but the publisher definitely said it! “I am convinced that in the future we must change the price of video games – they’re too expensive for the audience,” confesses sales & marketing VP Olivier Comte. “With the cost of development and the retail margins, £40 is a fair price [to us], but for the consumer it is too much....

Archaic Sealed Heat(orASH, for short) is Hironobu Sakaguchi’s first foray onto the DS. While we’ve heard nothing of Mistwalker’s newest game at E3, Famitsu, tried and true, has a scan or two and a smattering of information — just enough to whet the appetite without anything definite to latch onto. Even worse is that there seem to be a few conflicting reports. ASHrevolves around Queen (Princess?) Aisha, whose castle has been burned to the ground by the Archaic Sealed Flame....

Activision Blizzard loves its yearly sequels, as CEO Bobby Kotickhas confirmedthat a newCall of Dutywill arrive in 2009, even thoughWorld at Warhasn’t even been released yet. Kotick said that this “all newCall of Dutygame” will “leapfrog” development teams, presumably meaning that Infinity Ward will take charge for the project. Infinity Ward is still working on its new secret project, but has stated that it will be “quite a while” before we can learn anything more about that....

Capcom has announced today that new costumes are headed toSuper Street Fighter IVover the next few months. The first pack is said to hit Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network on Tuesday, October 26. Pricing and timing of the packs — which will account for all of the game’s 35 fighters, four per fighter — is said to “vary by platform.” Along with the announcement, Capcom has released a batch of screens showing off some of the new costumes, as well as a teaser trailer....

It comes as no surprise that Microsoft has an overly pretentious family enjoying the Kinect in this trailer. Looking past that, the video does a great job showing off how damnfunthis game looks. It also gets me all nostalgic and fuzzy inside seeing Elmo and Cookie Monster beautifully rendered in a vibrantly colorful world. Double Fine has been moreexperimentalthan usual lately, but theyalwaysknow how to craft games packed with memorable charactersandspot-on writing while introducing new and interesting gameplay mechanics with each new title....

It’s another slow week in terms of videogame releases. The only one I’m interested in this week is Pop Cap’sPlants vs. Zombies.I’ve been hearing nothing but good things about it and it does look pretty fun. I, like probably most of you out there, gave up hope on theSonic the Hedgehogseries long ago. Let’s face it: the series went down the shitter once the Dreamcast died. Plus, thatteaser trailer from Aprildidn’t help matters forSonic Unleashed, either. After watching this above trailer, though, I feel like I’m going to cry. I’m sorry, I just thought I’d never see the day when a goodSonicgame is made again. This trailer shows off everything a goodSonicgame should have: fast-paced levels, gorgeous environments, and music that sounds like whatSonicmusic should sound like (none of this “I want to fly high” crap … admittedly, I like that song, but it’s just not appropriate for aSonicgame)....

Microsoft has heard the requests of gamers in our military and now has made changes in their system to accept their addresses in Military States in their billing system. This will come as great news to our men and women stationed worldwide. Up until now these people have not been able to complete the entry of required information for XBLA, which means that they wouldn’t be able to buy Microsoft Points, renew memberships, buy games and the like....
