Talking to Women about Videogames: What makes you want?

Despite our ability for highly complex conceptual thinking and communication, human beings are still a fairly primitive species. We may be able to create nuclear bombs and cell phones, but underneath all our “achievements,” our behavior is still ruled by our emotional reactions to various external stimuli. If a heterosexual man sees a woman who has lumps of fat on her chest of a particular size and shape, he may feel lust, affection, or even worship for her, leading to all sorts of bizarre behavior....

That pesky DRM in From Dust has finally been removed

Keeping good ontheir wordfrom two weeks ago, Ubisoft has finally removed theDRMthat plagued the PC owners ofFrom Dust. If you have an unreliable internet connection or you’re not around a WiFi Hotspot, you will now be able to finally play offline. Seems a bit late as this is not really that big of a deal anymore, but I guess it’s the point of the matter. The update doesn’t fix the myriad of issues that people were having, such as game-crashing bugs, numerous glitches, spotty video card support, terrible controls, a 30 FPS limit and a lack of various standard graphics options....

The path of no divergence: Why linear games have their place

In gaming circles, “linear” has become a dirty word indeed, a black mark against an otherwise fine videogame. In this age of choice and sandbox experiences, those games that stick to a more rigid path are often looked down upon by a sneering crowd who wishes for every title to be about freedom and overwhelming possibility. These people, of course, are wrong. Linearity is not a bad thing, and can even be a most powerful tool in the right hands....

The Top 50 Videogames of the Decade (#50-41)
