I don’t know if you remember hearing about theMario Bar, an event created by the folks at theIT University of Copenhagenin Denmark. I remember thinking that their Yoshi cocktail sounded delicious! The same group of people from the school’s Media, Techology, and Games Masters program have created another themed night and drinking event, this time focusing on the world ofFinal Fantasy. Final Fantasy Nighttook place at Scrollbar early last month. It followed the same formula as the Mario Bar, with game-themed decorations and original cocktails....
Capcom has released a new trailer forSuper Street Fighter IV Arcade Editionwhich contains a still image of the Evil Ryu and “Oni Akuma” (as the net has come to call him) charactersrumored last weekto be appearing in the game. The still appears at the 2:20 mark. There’s also some text over the image but, because I lack the knowledge and can’t find anybody at this hour to translate it. I am yet to nail down the appeal of those games where you’re justtoldthings are happening, but there’s definitely an appeal. It’s almost like a text-adventure, except without the story.Age of Legends(iOS) is one of those types of games. I’m sure the genre has a name. In any case, you pick a hero, and then send it out on quests and level it up. You buy new equipment, you secure yourself land, and you do all of it without any real gameplay to speak of....
In the realm of adventure gaming Funcom has become synonymous with sweet goodness in recent years, much in the same way that EA has become synonymous with sucking the blood from the necks of children, but it looks like they’re taking some drastic steps to protect their delicious nectar from scurvy pirates (much in the same way that children take drastic steps to protect their precious lifeblood from vampires). UK retailer GAME has shrugged off efforts by EA and THQ to combat used games, claiming that the “online pass” scheme hasn’t worked. According to company CEO Ian Shepherd, the secondhand market is as strong as it ever was. “Certainly, publishers are using content to extend the life of games to extend the reasons to keep them –that’s a good thing, as it’s good for us and we’ll sell more of the games,” says Shepherd....
