No Audiosurf on XBLA … sowwy guyz!

The other day, it was suggested inGames TMmagazine that the indie gaming crowd’s (ie, Rev Anthony’s) latest darling,Audiosurf, would be coming to Xbox Live Arcade. This was certainly a good thing — too good, in fact, to be real. Sorry, but it was a case of crossed wires —Audiosurfisn’t coming to XBLA. “Must have been a miscommunication,” stated the game’s creator, Dylan Fitterer. “I never saidAudiosurfwas coming to XBLA.” That’s a shame....

No Echochrome sequel in the works

Today, at the Develop conference, Sony Japan producer Tatsuya Suzuki and researcher Jun Fujiki toldEurogamer, “We’re not doing a sequel. We’re not doingEchochrome 2.” The move is surprising considering the praiseEchochromeis still receivingfrom criticsand gamers alike. Instead, Fujiki’s work with 3D coordinates and camera position has laid the groundwork for another title entirely. There is little information at this time, but Fujiki is indeed masterminding a new title using his OLE Coordinate System....

Obama campaign has a presence in Madden 09, change coming for Chiefs fans

The other week, we brought you a storyabout an Obama ad present on a billboard inBurnoutParadise. While we were skeptical about it, it has beenproven true. This morning, I was greeted with the same ad in another game. This time, it’sMadden NFL 09. The ad is the same one that was featured in theBurnoutbillboard, except inMadden, it appears on drive summaries in the lower right-hand corner. The ad reads, “Early voting has begun,” and at the bottom features Obama’s campaign logo and his name....

Obsessed with Braid? Papercraft your favorite characters into reality

Braidis currently going through its own personal level ofPortal-like popularity at the moment, thanks in part to therave reviewsit’s drawn from gamers. While there’s no catchy theme song you may record yourself singing and subsequently post on YouTube (thank God), the game will likely stick with people who play it for some time after they complete it. If you find yourself obsessing over the game, you may be able to ease the pain with these papercraft models ofTim, the game’s main character, and theangry faced little creaturethat you see in many of the levels....

Onimusha movie punished with no word of reprieve

There hasn’t been much word about theOnimusha:Warlordsfilm adaption since the middle of last year whenTakeshi Kaneshiro was cast in the lead role. I’m not sure why I’m disappointed about this since I’ve rarely seen any good come of a video game adapted to film (although I was excited about Christophe Gane directing,) but it seems that the film has been put on hold indefinitely. While no one reason is cited as being at fault, it’s believed that the writer’s strike and Kaneshiro’s busy schedule could have been major factors....

Pain broken like bones, fixes coming soon (Update)

PlayStation 3 owners who hopped online to snag the new PlayStation Network title,Pain, might have noticed a few issues. You’re not alone — I experienced issues, too. Two characters (a creepy looking Santa, and the scantily clad female, Cookie) wouldn’t load for instance, giving me an error message which told me to re-download and installPainto correct the problem (that didn’t work). It’s because of these problems, as well as issues with the online leaderboards (there were none) and a broken video on the community, thatPainhas been removed from the PlayStation Store....

Penny Arcade Adventures hits XBLA next week!

We’ve been talking about Penny Arcade’s upcoming gameOn the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darknesssince way back last year, long enough ago that I had actually forgotten about it a little. After all, six months in real-life time is 500 years in Internet chronicles. Luckily, I had a reminder today in the form of nearly instant gratification: the game hits XBLA next week! If you forgot too, I’ll refresh you:On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darknessis an episodic RPG title featuring Gabe and Tycho of Penny Arcade fame on a quest through the 1920s to save…well, we aren’t sure what they’re out to save, exactly, but it’s pretty much assured we’ll be laughing the whole way, whatever it is....

Perfect Dark XBLA looks better than the original

Perfect Darkis still slated to hit Xbox LIVE Arcade at some point this winter. Perhaps as a reminder of its eventual arrival or to show off the brilliant texture work by developer 4J Studios, Rare released one bit of art and two additional images of the game in motion. It still looks terrible, but at least it’s asmoothkind of terrible. Released in the year 2000 on the Nintendo 64,Perfect Darkwas the legendary follow-up to Rare’s other shooter,Goldeneye....

PlanetSide 2 debuts with a trailer, screenshots, and more

Enough with the miscellaneous renders from social media sites; here’s the debut trailer forPlanetSide 2. This game was previously referred to asPlanetSide Next, which always came off as codename-y. I’m certainly not sad to see it go. Graphically,PlanetSide 2looks much better than what I was anticipating. Perhaps that has more to do with the age of its predecessor than anything else. Still, for a massively multiplayer online shooter, there’s not a whole lot to complain about in the visuals department....

Play Slam Bolt Scrappers with one hand… for drinking!

Every once in awhile, a game comes along and nearly everyone on the Destructoid staff is hyped up about it. Such is the case with Fire Hose Games’Slam Bolt Scrappers, which was early today announced to be getting a March PlayStation Network release. I haven’t had a chance to play the game yet, but everyone who has can’t say enough good things about it. Fire Hose Games’ Eitan Glinert tells me that since Dtoid writers last saw the game they’ve added new weapons, enemies, powers ups, and even more stuff they’re not talking about yet....
