The sequel to WiiWare titleLostWindshas been confirmed, and as you may imagine I am most pleased about it considering what a huge fan I was of the first game.CVGposted some video footage of the game this morning, and while brief, it does give you a chance to see Toku’s new ability to change the seasons, which ought to be an interesting game mechanic indeed. There’s no release date forWinter of the Melodias, but what we can rely on is a longer game with more to do, according to the developers....

Fractis an experimental first-person PC and Mac game in which you solve puzzles in an unusual environment not unlike a cross betweenDarwiniaandTron. You’re told to put on headphones or use not-crap speakers during the intro, so you know it’s legit. Even those who are dreadful at puzzle games (Hi!) will want totry this out. I didn’t accomplish much of anything during my playthrough — hell, I’m not even a tiny bit sure what was going on — butFractis now committed to memory....

PopCap’s experimental 4th & Battery label has recently released the free gameAllied Star Policefor iPhone and iPad. This game is the result of PopCap’s collaboration with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, which allowed 10-year old Owain Weinert to realize his dream to work with game designers. Owain already had an entire game design document at the ready, and PopCap worked with him to turn that into a game they could make within a week....

The opinion that digital rights management doesn’t prevent videogame piracy but instead harms paying customers through limits on things like number of installations and provides an overall worse user experience is not new, but it seems more developers are finally starting to jump onboard with the idea. As detailed in anarticle by Toms Hardware, Stardock CEO Brad Wardell and 2D Boy co-founder Ron Carmel have been saying that the people who illegally download games — in most cases — wouldn’t have bought the product anyway, so restrictions would only be hurting the actual consumers who did end up paying....

According to Microsoft’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hyrb, the big reveal related to Epic Games’ massive franchise has been postponed. “While these are never easy decisions,” he writes, “we can tell you that what we have to share for the franchise in 2011 will definitely be worth the wait and we look forward to working with our partner at Spike on sharing this world premiere news when it is ready....
