Sony says there’s still a market for dedicated handhelds

It seems we can’t go a week without someone in the industry claiming thatdedicated handhelds are deadas theycast a cynical eyeover the PlayStation Vita’s chances of success. Sony has finally answered the naysayers, and unsurprisingly, it doesn’t agree! “When you look at the type of consumer that’s playing cell phone games currently, it’s someone that enjoys smaller ‘kill time’ gaming and has not gravitated to the larger, richer, deeper experiences that true handheld gaming provides,” said Sony’s John Koller, rejecting claims that the mobile market was a thread to the Vita....

Terminator: Salvation is oddly cocky about killing robots

A few weeks ago, Nick told you aboutBionic Commandodeveloper GRIN working onTerminator: Salvation, and tonight I present to you a nice little teaser trailer from the game, which will be released in conjunction with the Christian Bale-riffic film in May. I haven’t paid a heavy amount of attention toTerminator: Salvation(the movie), but I find it somewhat odd that the resistance group is so casual about how they go around during the day in this game teaser....

The Question: Would you pay $60 for a 2D platformer?

In ourEl Shaddaireviewthis week, it was noted that quite a few comments expressed doubt that the game could be worth $60, due to the fact that it contained 2D platforming sections. This has confirmed a fear I’ve had that there’s just no respect for classic platformers anymore, no matter how much time, effort and content went into them. I was considering this when playing theSonic Generationsdemo. It felt great to play, and I couldn’t help thinking how much I’d enjoy a game that was nothing but 2D levels, without the “Modern Sonic” stuff....
