Dead to Rights: Retribution has the best dog ever in it

pounce insanely fast clawing at baddie as blood sprays The whole trailer is cool, but really I’m obsessed with the early segment where the doggy pounces and scratches, spraying up a fine mist of blood. Namco Bandai’s reworking of the crime series doesn’t launch until early 2010 (on PS3 and Xbox 360), but that doesn’t have to stop you from joining me in getting excited to play as Shadow the Attack Doggie....

Deadly Premonition European box art is amazing

UK retailer GAME has a picture of theDeadly PremonitionEuropean box art and it’s rather splendid for a number of reasons. First of all, it features a rather snazzy picture of the game’s Raincoat Killer character, looking all cool and scary while the rain beats down on him. Secondly is that rather prominent little Destructoid quote on the front, complete with logo. Considering we gaveDeadly Premonitiona scientifically factual score, because reviews are 100% objective and unquestionable (if they are positive), it’s hardly surprising that Rising Star would use us....

Destructoid Review: Boogie

Let’s face it — if you’ve committed yourself to playing a dancing/rhythm game, you should be prepared to look like a fool while doing so. PlayingBoogie, Electronic Arts’ original IP dancing title for the Wii, is no exception. If Guitar Hero made peripheral-based music titles cool,Boogiehas set the movement back 20 years. But in the end, if a game is fun and engaging, shame knows no bounds. When Destructoid received our review copy ofBoogiefrom Electronic Arts, I was a bit skeptical — wouldNexmake fun of me if he saw me dancing shirtless to Britney Spears’ “I’m a Slave 4 U”?...

Destructoid review: Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia

The Castlevania series stands alongside Mega Man, Mario, and Zelda as one of most prolific franchises in gaming. Every game in the series is unique, but like all games that fall under the same name, they do have their similarities. There are three general rules of thumb that players can use to prejudge what kind of game a Castlevania title is. First, the older the game, the harder it’ll be. Second, if it was made after 1997 and it’s in 2D, it will play likeSuper Metroid....

Does Sony owe you anything for the PSN outage?

This is an argument I’ve seen crop up in a few places recently, and so I thought I’d post the question to you: does Sony owe you anything for the PlayStation Networkbeing down for over a week? Of course, peoplepayfor Xbox Live if they want to play games online. With PSN, nobody’s shortchanged if they can’t playSOCOM 4. However, theydidpurchase the game, mostly with the intent of playing it online, and that’s something they’ve been unable to do since it launched....

DreamKiller trailer is totally metal

Goodness. What the hell did I just watch? Aspyr Media released a new teaser trailer for the PC and Xbox 360 titleDreamKiller. It stars a female protagonist with the power to slip into demented people’s brains. It sounds crazy from the get, but its more wild than what you’re thinking. Hamzadescribed it asasick— totally my addition — fusion ofDoom,BioShock, andPsychonauts. I buy a few parts of that description. Below the fold you can watch the trailer....

Duke Nukem movie in the works: Park your bricks in a theater near you!

I am convinced that 3D Realms is a joke company that specializes in long-term pranks. Theridiculous trailerfor the new portableDuke Nukemgames, the farcical delay ofDuke Nukem Foreverand thewhole attitudesurrounding the franchise just screams of a big laugh at our expense. This is why talk ofaDuke Nukemmovieleaves me similarly wary of publishers sniggering behind my back. Hollywood producer Scott Faye, the man currently bringingMax Payneto theaters, is the man responsible forDuke‘s alleged film debut, and is allegedly working with 3D Realms to allegedly make it happen....

E3 09: Namco Bandai teases its E3 line-up sans Splatterhouse

Namco Bandai has a handful of exciting videogames set and ready to be put on display at this year’s E3, butSplatterhouseis not one of them, oddly enough. With the game’s development being theclusterf**k that it was, I suppose it might doSplatterhousesome good to sit this one out until it’s best suited for a major showing. What exactly is the company showing off, then? I’m glad you asked. Here’s the line-up:...

E3 10: Jim, Rey, and Nick talk the 3DS, Miyamoto magic

In this video, Rey chats it up with Nick and Jim on all things Nintendo. Okay, maybe notallthings, but they touched on the major topics — the look and feel of the 3DS,Zelda:Skyward Sword‘s janky showing during Nintendo’s press event, and who “won” E3. Oh, and Jim is still wearing those sunglasses. Yep.

E3: God of War: Origins delivers exactly what’s promised

Sony’s bringing Ready At Dawn’s PlayStation Portable titles —God of War: Chains of OlympusandGod of War: Ghost of Sparta— to the PlayStation 3 on one Blu-ray disc asGod of War: Origins Collectionthis fall. Both games are being “re-mastered” by developer Ready at Dawn for high-definition televisions (full 1080p), with support for stereoscopic 3D thrown it for good measure, and the results are stunning in action. The visuals are surprisingly sharp for a game that was originally designed for a PSP, and the 3D effects were subtle but never overwhelming....

E3: PMC ops in Jagged Alliance: Back in Action

Jagged Alliance: Back in Actionis a mercenary tactics game intended to revitalize a dormant franchise. No, this isn’t the long-awaitedJagged Alliance 3(which is apparently still happening) but instead a remake of 1999’sJagged Alliance 2. The monarchy of the nation of Arulco is deposed and you take command of the mercenaries hired to restore the rightful ruler. I checked out a hands-off demo to see how this operation would go down....

E3: Rayman Origins is SO RIDICULOUSLY AMAZING!

Okay, I have my game of the show so far. Granted, it’s only Monday, and Nintendo still has the chance to announcePikmin 3and change my life, but, so far,Rayman Originsis the game that I want more than any other. During Ubisoft’s press conference,Raymanmastermind (and one of my favorite game designers) Michel Ancel came on stage to present the game. It goes without saying thatRayman Originslooks gorgeous. Stunning 2D side-scrolling levels. Fluid animation....
