Testing the GameCube on the Wii

So, this will be my final video of the night. I wanted to show you guys what happens when you put in a GameCube disc and also what happens when you plug in the GC controllers — even the Wavebird. I hope you all are enjoying the vids and that they’re answering some lingering questions you may have had. We’re having a lot of fun playing around with the console so far....

TGS: 80 Vita units was not nearly enough for this show

At Sony’s pre-TGS press conference they bragged that they’ll have 80 Vita units in their booth at the show. Some in the audience looked impressed. I was hopeful. Now, three days into Tokyo Game Show 2011, I’m just sad. Sad and hot. I want to play all of the 20+ Vita games they have, but it’s impossible. I played a lot so far, but that was only through lining up and waiting it out....

TGS: Ni no Kuni is absolutely lovely

Are they serious with how great this game looks? Level-5’sNi no Kuniis a head turner. Its beautiful, hand-drawn look and vibrant colors stood out among the sea of Sony’s offerings at their TGS booth today. Its looks drew me in and kept me there. I actually came back for a second playthrough later in the day. I don’t think there’s a prettier game on the show floor. Of course, Studio Ghibli played a big part in making this game look so great....

The Conduit 2 is called Conduit 2

We’ve all been calling itThe Conduit 2, but apparently we’re damn wrong. “The” isn’t cool anymore, and anybody who uses it is a big square. From now on, High Voltage’s sequel toThe Conduitis shedding the formalities and will henceforth be known simply asConduit 2. “It’sConduit 2. The ‘THE‘ got a bit clunky — too much of a mouthful — and we always referred to it asConduit 2internally. It flows better and just kinda stuck,” explained producer Jason Olson....

The long and bloody history of the Darkness

Part of me is glad thatThe Darkness IIis now coming out Jun 23, 2025. There’s so many big titles coming out this year thatThe Darkness IIcould have gotten easily buried amongst the swarm of triple A titles on the horizon. Then again, part of me is mad that the game isn’t out this year as it means I have to wait even longer now to get my demonic tentacles all over the nextDarkness....

The Memory Card .11: The Solitary Island

Final Fantasy VI While videogames tackle a lot of pretty heavy subjects, some topics seem to be taboo. Things like death, pregnancy, and suicide are rarely (if ever) focused on in the virtual world. Once and a while, though, a game will come along and treat these “mature” subjects with respect, never blatantly adding them in for a little extra shock value or to sell a few more copies on controversy alone....

The Memory Card .17: Hover bike madness!

Battletoads Although they may have gotten more complicated and deep over the years, videogames have definitelynotbecome more challenging. Not to say that is a negative thing by any means, it is just hard to compare the tutorial-filled games of today with some of the ego-crushing creations of gaming past. But were these old games more challenging simply because they were better designed? Not necessarily, and notusually, to be honest with you....

The month in Xbox: Games on Demand, Avatars, and deals

While it’s freakishly convenient when companies cram all sorts of knowledge into their press releases, it also saddens me in a way. With an abundance of information, it can be hard to find room for the funny or otherwise offbeat in such a tightly-packed post. That’s my reasoning for the header image and I’m sticking to it. First up, here are the month’s new Games on Demand titles:Call of Duty 3andRainbow Six Vegas 2(out now);Grand Theft Auto IV(October 13);Midnight Club Los Angeles, Army of Two, andSonic Unleashed(Oct....

The Podcastle episode 31: Hiccups

Our latest episode of The Podcastle mostly revolves around hiccups, since I was afflicted by a violent bout of them partway through the recording of the show. Wardrox and Atheistium laugh at my torment, but fear not, fretful listeners, I get my sweet vengeance at the very end. This week we discuss how Far Cry 2 is blatantly not at good as Wardrox said it was, the school shooting in Germany and the racism of The Telegraph....
