Despite being released weeks ago, and being absolutely crap into the bargain,Sniper: Ghost Warriorhas finally received a patch that gives it a boatload of needed tweaks. We were going to wait for the patch to review it because the game was unplayable in its release condition. However, it’s taken so frigging long for the patch to come out, I think they can shove their review up their arse. The patch has ten fixes, including tweaks to the enemy AI, an improvement on the entire stealth system, several multiplayer enhancements, and weapon damage alterations....

Square Enix has been predicting the state of graphics in the next generation, believing that developers will be able to make use of techniques currently utilized by CGI artists. In other words,shit be lookin’ good! “I think that we’re still going to see a big leap in graphics,” said worldwide tech director Julien Merceron. “In terms of technology I think we’ll see developers taking advantage of physically-based rendering, physically-based lighting. I think people will take advantage of global illumination, or at least some form approximation of global illumination, so that could have a significant impact on graphics quality....

One of my favorite features of the 3DS is the ability to explore the world of mainstream media in 3D. Unfortunately, other than the still expanding Nintendo Video (which has some good stuff from college humor and few quality music videos, but not much else) and a few random websites, it’s hard to find online content that’s in 3D. The final episode to the amazingStreet Fighter: The Later Yearsseries is finally here. Last timewe left offwith Ryu and E. Honda getting ready to go into an all out battle. The fight starts to heat up until E. Honda retreats and starts a food fight. Sagat, Vega, Dhalsim and even a naked Zangief all battle it out in the grand finale. My favorite part was at the 3:11 mark. Seeing the recreation of that classic scene filled my retro heart with joy....

WhenResident Evil 5was announced for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, everyone asked — how about a Wii version? At the time, it didn’t seem likely. In fact, the words “not possible” were thrown around. One of the game’s producers, Masachika Kawata, even joked that the Wii couldn’t handle the title screen. Well, now it sounds like they’re eating some crow. In a recent online Q&A with Capcom’s product manager Matt Dahlgren, it was revealed that the Japanese producers ofResident Evil 5were pretty impressed with Cavia’s visual work with the Wii-exclusiveResident Evil: Darkside Chronicles....

The big news, however, is that that Runewaker Entertainment’sWarcraft-esque game is going to be more progressive than the United States — allowing same-sex marriage all across the board. Awesome! “You will be married and somehow connected to the other player,” explains Western publisher Frogster. “Of course you can only be married with one person at the same time....

I miss many things about 80s arcades — the sticky floors, the crowds, and most importantly, the cabinets themselves. While I’ve gotten used to shoulder buttons and analog sticks, there’s something to be said for the feel of a good arcade stick. Which is why it pleases me so that Taito are resurrecting that old dinosaur, known as “the paddle.” As a peripheral for the Nintendo DS, this little controller significantly changes the feel of games like Taito’s upcomingSpace Invaders ExtremeandArkanoid DS....

On a game console where pixls, toadstools, and bobble headed caricatures rule, it seems like it’s becoming more difficult to find some good, clean action and fighting. We did not find that in Marvelous Entertainment’s stylistic brawlerNo More Heroes. Instead, we found light sabers, slot machine play, brain busting finishing moves, and even crotch lasers. While it’s not exactly what we were looking for,No More Heroesdid not disappoint. The stylistic, cell-shaded brawler is a breath of fresh air on the Wii....

The Cult of Rapture has received several updates since we last checked the site out. Just today, thefourth art piecein theBioShock 2artist series went up. The piece is called “Subject Delta” and was created by artists Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell. The scene depicts Delta messing up some Splicers as a Little Sister creepily stares straight ahead, into your soul. Here’s thethird art piece inthe artist series we never got around to posting also, mostly because the scene is pretty boring....

Some of you might not agree with Jim Sterling’s review scores, but you have to admit that the man is a master of the digital paint brush. For instance: the complex facial expression on Baldur exudes not only a deep sense of internal conflict and pain, but also a strong external facade of bravado that serves to hide those feelings from the world at large; clearly conveying a strong warning about the ideology of individualism taken too far to its extreme, which can result in the alienation of the people we need the most when our lives grow turbulent....
