Say what you will about Nintendo (I know I have), but one can’t help feeling alittletrace of admiration for Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata, who has taken personal responsibility for the 3DS’ disappointing performance and subsequentprice cut, along with an impressive 50% pay reduction. “For cuts in fixed salaries, I’m taking a 50% cut, other representative directors are taking a 30% cut, and other execs are taking a 20%,” he announced....

Fans of the console wars and sales figures are in for some bad news; starting this month, the NPD will beremoving monthly hardware unit sales figuresfrom their reports, and “shift (in) the Top 10 software from sku level with unit sales for the Top 5, to Top 10 software at the title level with no unit sales.” Hardware sales will still be reported, but not directly to the press. They’ll go to the hardware manufacturers themselves first, where they can be given a misleading spin, or remain unreported to the general public....

It seems that gamers are getting more and more obsessed with length. I never felt it was important, yet I am now having to make sure I include at least a rough estimate of a game’s running time in every review I publish. While not a problem on its own, this fixation on length has brought with it some arbitrary guidelines that I feel are starting to endanger our perspective....

So,thisis a brand new episode of Once Upon a Pixel. I finished it thinking it one of the best, but not a lot of people seem to share the same sentiment. It may be because I channeled 40 year old adventure shows likeDanger Islandwhile making it. I’m sorry in advance if you don’t like it as much as I do. The episode is centered around the story ofUncharted, which has been twisted around to become aTintin/Jonny Questtype action/adventure cartoon, where an awesome man constantly drags his incapable kids into dangerous situations for no apparent reason....

Look, I am not even going to pretend to be healthy here — Papa John’s (unless eaten in very small quantities) is not good for you. At all. This year, EA Sports is putting out a hockey game on the Wii for the first time. It’s calledNHL Slapshot, and it features the greatest hockey player of all time, Wayne Gretzky. The career mode inNHL Slapshottakes a player “from peewee to pro”: you’ll start out as a 12-year-old kid, and go all the way to a career in the NHL....

Sony has announced today thatPlayStation Move Heroeswill be shipping to stores on March 22. Developed by Nihilistic Software, the game sees a team up between some of Sony’s biggest names: Jak, Daxter, Sly Cooper, Bentley the turtle from theSlyseries, and Clank fromRatchet & Clank. The Move-only title plays out like a series of challenges, with each of the characters have his or own unique abilities. That evolution picture may initially seem funny, but it scares the crap out of me. Lord (or Darwin) knows it’s a struggle just to maintain good posture for more than thirty seconds at a time.
