El Shaddai demo coming April 14

El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatronis looking set to be a big cult hit this year. The unique Biblical setting, brawling/platforming gameplay and striking artistic style has quite rightly earned it some attention, and those paying heed will be glad to know a demo is coming soon. By soon, we mean April 14. Just in case you’re incapable of reading headlines. It’s unclear if the demo is planned for both Xbox 360 and PS3, nor is it certain that the demo will escape Japan....

Etsy strikes again with Gameboy Lego art

Yes, yes, game art. We know it’s everywhere, so we try to limit what we post here at Destructoid to the stuff that really catches your eye and makes you remember it. Etsy artistEnablerArtdefinitely fits the bill with his clean style — I think I could hang the Gameboy piece in a modern condo and still somehow manage to get away with it without it looking kitschy. Of course, Gameboy isnt all he does....

Last night’s much-hyped news was thatMr. Destructoid now plays a real rolein Hudson’s classic titleBomberman. While it doesn’t quite top Nex becoming King of Iceland, it’s probably the next best thing as far as the Dtoid army is concerned. Since the excitement is still high, it was a great surprise to find the finalized Mr. Destructoid sitting in my inbox today from Hudson, along with some screenshots from the upcoming Bomb-Up pack for Xbox LIVE....

Even if work has started onBorderlands 2: More Borderlands, it looks like the core team will be a few men down. In a recent financial conference call Take-Two CEO Ben Feder confirmed that moreBorderlandsDLC is planned, despite“The Secret Armory of General Knoxx”seeming like a fan-servicing exit from the arena. Where will the nextBorderlandsDLC take us? We have a list of demands (not written on the palm of our hands): (a) the moon (b) inside of a monster’s bowels (c) on top of a monster’s bowels, and, (d) a loot factory....

Fable III also PC? The box says so

I hate when people say “on the tin” because they don’t make things out of tin anymore, but if you look “on the tin” of the Fable 3 Xbox 360 packaging it says “Only for Xbox 360 and Windows” at the top in a little stamp. Was that an accident? Did they let slip that a PC version ofFable IIIis also coming? Well, you can’t exactly deny it now, can you?...

Final Fantasy Tactics out for iOS today, iPad this month

Final Fantasy Tacticshas lived on as one of my favorite games for a very long time. It has sit up at the top of the ranks since that first PSOne release while others have come and gone. I’m so glad that this game is now in its most portable form, as an iOS title. It’s out today as an almost 500mb download from the App Store, priced at $15.99. Knowing that I can bust out my iPhone and give this killer SRPG another go at any time is somehow comforting....

Wondering where the cash-grab remakes ofFinal Fantasy VandFinal Fantasy VIare? Apparently, it’s not for the want of trying, as Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto confirmed that there are “technical issues” holding the two games back. He wouldn’t detail what those issues are, but apparently something is preventing these games being remade for DS. He also revealed that re-releases for other desired games, namelyEver Heart OdysseyandSeiken Densetsu 3, are undecided at this current moment....

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children limited edition is pretty

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Childrenwas like chocolate cake wrapped around cheesecake and dipped in whip cream for me. In one word: orgasmic. Now we’re getting a limited edition collector’s set for the movie and it’s like they just added sprinkles and a cherry to it. Available in a new case design created by Tetsuya Nomura, the limited edition set comes with the same movie and features as the previous movie, but now includes theatrical trailers, a bonus script, book and postcards....

Game SERIES Debate to the Death: Guitar Hero VS Rock Band

Last weekwe all went down guns ablazin’ as everyone duked it out over what the better FPS gun was. One side was armed with a gravity gun, and man did they do a lot of damage. Unfortunately, the other side was equipped with a portal gun, and dodged just about all the incoming attacks. I loved reading the very logical discussion over the very illogical game physics and concepts applied in our own world, proving many robotic readers have certified Dtoid debate degrees....

Games of the week for 07/26/09: MANDRAKE edition

After much deliberation, I have decided thatDefenders of the Earthhad the best opening of any eighties/nineties cartoon show. Sure,Skeleton Warriorswas absolutely brilliant for its ludicrous metal, andM.A.S.Khad a certain camp charm. However, nothing is quite as hilariousDefenders of the Earth, especially the bit where they sing about Mandrake. Pure quality. Speaking of Mandrake, some videogames were played. Feel free to hit the jump and see what’s been tickling our fancy this week....
