In March of next year, the Smithsonian American Art Museum will open its “The Art of Video Games” exhibition. It will showcase 80 games in an exploration of 40 years of videogames. Between February and April, the Smithsonian encouraged people to get online and vote for which games will make the cut. 3.7 million votes later, the games have been chosen, including everything fromPac-MantoHeavy Rain,Donkey KongtoShadow of the Colossus. The exhibition will also feature five games playable for visitors to experience for a few minutes:Pac-Man,Super Mario Brothers,The Secret of Monkey Island,Myst, andWorld of Warcraft....

Erik discovered that if you change Sonic’s back to his front, he looks like he has a pair of boobs and a dick. Sonic basically is a he-she. A few new initiatives will bring many more affordable games to PSP owners out there. The first is a new PSP Favorites software line, which offers titles at $9.99. The line kicks off today at participating retailers with a handful of games. Speaking with Gamasutra, Sony Computer Entertainment of America CEO Jack Tretton shared his thoughts on the App Store, and more generally, mobile gaming. “If I open a movie theater next door [to a theater] and start charging 50 cents per ticket, but I’m showing you things I filmed with my camcorder, I don’t think it’s a threat to the theater charging $13 per ticket,” says Tretton. “It’s about people having reasonable expectations....

I liked the concept ofSpider-Man: Shattered Dimensionsbut didn’t find the execution quite compelling enough. I’m glad Beenox is getting a second crack of the whip though, as they had the fundamentals in place and I’d love to see them do something more exciting with the game. So someone that sounds like the Power Thirst announcer found out aboutSuper Mario Bros. 2and recorded himself playing the game. The result is pretty hardcore. It’s mostly just the guy saying what he’s seeing out loud, but there are a lot of funny moments. I have a feeling I’m going to be doing this myself a lot from now on....

In a recentGameDailyinterview thatCVGpicked up on, Take-Two CEO Ben Feder would not comment on the possibility of a Wii incarnation ofGrand Theft Auto. The comments come on the heels ofan interview earlier this month, in which NOA president Reggie Fils-Aime said he would “love” to have aGTAon the Wii if it took proper advantage of the hardware. Feder had this to say about the subject. I can’t comment on it, but obviously we have one of the best selling third-party games on the Wii in Carnival Games from 2K Play, so we know the Wii pretty well....
