It’s that time of the day, boys and girls, time for another bit of “research” that tells us all how mentally unhealthy videogames are. Today’s slice ofalarm-flavored study piesuggests that children under the age of seven should be banned from games because it can “damage their attention spans,” and is leading to a rise in attention deficit-disorder which has nothing to do with the over-diagnosis of kids who act like kids....

Believe it or not, I really likePokémon. I’ve been a big fan of the series since I was a child, but even though my interest in the series diminished as I got older, I still find myself dipping back into the monster-catching stupidity now and then. I recently picked upPokémonPearlfor my DS Lite, and have already lost hours upon hours doing the exact same things I did inPokémonRedalmost ten years ago, yet still loving every shameful, childish second of it....

There are more than a few people who feel that Sony and the PS3 are going to have a big year in 2008, and Peter Dille, Senior VP of Marketing & PLAYSTATION Network, is obviously one of them. In apost yesterday on the PlayStation.Blog, he outlined all the things that Sony has in store for the PSN this year. He first talked about therevamped PlayStation Store(and his personal dissatisfaction with its previous interface), though he said it’s “the first step but it’s only one example” of what Sony will be bringing to the PSN in 08....

At last month’s Tokyo Game Show,I got my hands on Square-Enix’sStar Ocean: First Departurefor the PSP. I wanted nothing more than to show you how wonderful the game looked, but Squeenix had me on camera lock down, and they only supplied me with a couple of craptastic screenshots. It’s been a while since we heard that Sam Raimi was going to head up aWorld of Warcraftmovie, but the self-admittedWoWfan says that they are still hard at work and moving forward with the production. Well, moving forward at a really slow and steady pace. At the Saturn Awards Collider.com got a chance to speak with Raimi, who passed on makingSpider-Man 4, and he admitted that he was still committed to making the movie, but that they weren’t really that far along in it....

Drop what you are doing and listen up, for an enormous patch containing the gamingequivalent of the cure for cancer and a new bonus content pack are on the horizon. The patch, which contains no more than one billion individual items,can be viewed here. Many of us who boughtThe Oddboxxfor PC last month were left disappointed in the worst possible way. This collection ofOddworldgames —Abe’s Oddysee,Abe’s Exoddus,Munch’s Oddysee, andStranger’s Wrath— contained titles that were unplayable on multiple levels. Personally, I couldn’t get more than ten frames per second withStranger’s Wrath. A patch has come out and thank eff, the game is now playable and actually runs in widescreen. I can’t speak for the current status ofMunch’s Oddysee, but it’s supposed to not crash now....

For those who can’t quite figure out what’s going on, just click the empty white space to start the video.Witness two street fighters’ lives, 10 years after the game.
